Coronavirus killing Nigeria's elites like never before

Nigeria News Update
Issue #6 • View online
Dear MyNigeria reader,
Just like the first week of the year, the second week continued on a bad note with more personalities falling to the cold hand of death. The most famous were Emir of Billiri, Dr. Abdu Buba Maisheru ll, Former Commissioner for Establishment and Special Duties in Edo State, Didi Adodo, and popular actress, Sotonye Ifeoma Dublin.
Embattled activist Owoyele Sowore was finally granted bail in the sum of N20million after a long stint in police custody. This, however, doesn’t guarantee his freedom as he still faces trial on charges of treason, money laundering, and cyberstalking. His bail condition stipulates that he cannot leave Abuja or speak to the press.
Fortune, Nigeria’s rising photographer and the official photographer of musician, Davido opened up on what it feels like to work with one of the most influential personalities on the continent. In an exclusive chat, Fortune canceled ever working with Wizkid and Burna Boy.
The second wave of the coronavirus is proving more deadly than the first. So far, 110, 000 Nigerians have been affected by the virus, while, 1,435 have died. Despite the high rate, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force, Boss Mustapha allayed fears of another general lockdown.
