Dear MyNigeria reader,
Over the past week, the country was left to handle the rising cases of banditry and the unusual blockade of trade routes linking the North and South. The latter has indeed exposed and reminded the South that its dependence on the North for basic food items might bite in the nearest future.
At long last, the highly expected AstraZeneca/Oxford coronavirus vaccine arrived in the country to some pomp and pageantry. Dr. Cyprian Nyong of the National Hospital, Abuja, was the first Nigerian to receive a jab of the AstraZeneca/Oxford coronavirus vaccine.
The medical doctor who is reported to be one of the front-line workers in the capital has saved the lives of many Nigerians affected by the virus. Dr. Nyong is reported to have been in the isolation center in Abuja since the index cases were recorded in March 2020.
While the daily case count might have reduced, we will be wrong to assume the vaccine means the end of the virus. Nigerians are still getting infected daily. Always remember to adhere to the safety protocols.
So far, 159,000 Nigerians have been affected by the virus, while, 1, 984 have died.
Our best wishes for a positive week ahead. Please send any comments, suggestions, criticisms, ideas, news, and features to email@example.com. Follow us on all social media platforms at @themynigeria for updates throughout the day. You can also download the MyNigeria App from Google Playstore.
